In May 2019 four colleagues from our Funeral Homes across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire completed a marathon charity walk covering a distance of 26 miles to raise funds for Dementia UK.
The quartet started from the Central England Co-op Funeral Home in Ilkeston, before stopping off at Funeral Homes and Food Stores belonging to the Society in Eastwood, Heanor, Belper, Ripley and Somercotes along the route to give colleagues and customers the opportunity to donate.
Three retail colleagues from our Westdale Lane store in Nottingham 'pedalled to Skeggy' in July 2019 to raise hundreds of pounds for the charity.
Team Leader Robert Truman, Bakery Customer Service Assistant David White and Store Cleaner Marc Chilton took on a mammoth 160 mile round trip on their bikes.
Our Head of Shared Services Paul Fairhurst pushed himself to the limit to swim the 5.25 miles of one of the country’s largest lakes in August 2019 for the cause.
He took on the challenge of swimming Lake Coniston in the Lake District, after months of training, successfully completing the challenge and raising thousands for Dementia UK.
He even appeared on BBC Radio Derby to promote the challenge - here he is pictured in the studio with presenter Sally Pepper.
Brave Lucy Wolfe from our Lichfield head office took on a truly wild challenge completing a skydive to support the cause which is close to her heart back in 2018.
Here is the moment she will never forget!
In May 2019 10 colleagues from our funeral team got back on the saddle to cycle 26 miles around Rutland Water to raise funds for Dementia UK.
The team of mixed abilities manage to raise over £1,600 from the challenge and had a great time in the process!
