Members' Meetings go online

We are getting set to host our first-ever online members’ meeting to shine a light on the past 12 months and update Members on efforts to support local communities impacted by the Coronavirus.

We will be going live from 7pm on Wednesday 17 June, featuring a wide variety of subjects.

Normally, 12 meetings are held in April in venues across our trading estate spanning from Birmingham to Norfolk to update Members and provide them with the chance to ask questions of the Board and Executive Team.

However, due to restrictions put in place due to the Coronavirus pandemic, we quickly acted and organised our first-ever online version of the meetings to ensure Members continue to be informed.

Elaine Dean, Society President, said: “Due to the uncertainty caused by the Coronavirus, our Board of Directors took the decision in March to postpone the Society’s Annual Members’ Meetings which were scheduled to take place at the end of April.

“We are now pleased to announce our plans to hold our first-ever online Members’ Meeting to help us keep in touch and provide updates on what we are doing to support our communities during this global pandemic.

“We would love to see each and every one of our members in person for our annual meetings and cannot wait until we do again, but, in the meantime, we hope you will log in on Wednesday 17 June and be part of an exciting first for the Society.

“Everyone is welcome and we want to have as many people as possible there; Members, colleagues and interested customers.

“Now, more than ever, coming together democratically to exercise our shared co-operative values is crucial.

“As a co-operative society, Members are at the centre of everything we do, and we want to hear from as many of you as possible, from Burton, to Kettering, Chesterfield to Lowestoft, Peterborough to Holmfirth.

“With the use of technology, and no small measure of determination, we’ll do everything we can to host an inclusive, involving event with more Members than ever before, meeting in one space, together.”
