Helping our charity partner in their time of need
Our charity partner Dementia UK has been given an extra cash boost to help them continue to service their users during this difficult time.
Central England Co-operative have been supporting the charity for the past two-and-a-half years, donating over £1.3 million in that time.
During this national emergency, we’ve donated enough money to staff their emergency phone line seven days a week, with more help available over the coming vital weeks for people living with Dementia and their carers who are under strain.
Looking back on a proud relationship with Dementia UK
Over the last few years, colleagues and customers from 16 counties have done everything from jumping out of planes and swimming the length of one of the country’s largest lakes, to holding cake sales and community events to raise funds.
The money has been used to help pay for the creation of new Admiral Nurses, training and development for existing and new Admiral Nurses, the Admiral Nurse Dementia Helpline and Admiral Nurse clinics.
Dementia UK supports families affected by dementia through their Admiral Nurse service. Admiral Nurses work alongside people with dementia and their families and offer one-to-one support, expert guidance and practical solutions so they can face dementia with more confidence and less fear.
The Nurses work across a range of care settings within the community, hospitals, hospices and care homes.
The Admiral Nurse Dementia Helpline is available to anyone with queries or concerns about dementia. It is staffed by Admiral Nurses to ensure those with dementia and those caring for them get the best possible care and advice.
