Frequently Asked Questions

Are you limiting supply of any products?

Yes, because of high demand in certain categories, we are asking our customers to limit how many items they purchase to a maximum of two per customer.

Are you seeing an increase in buying levels?

There is increased demand for products across our stores.  The success of the Government’s hand hygiene message is leading to consumers buying more quantities of hand sanitisers and wipes. We have temporarily limited purchases of all products across the stores to a maximum of two per customer. However, we are working with our suppliers to maintain stocks and are confident about our ability to maintain and replenish food stocks.

Will supplies be impacted?

Retailers are used to dealing with disruption to their supply chain - think of the Beast from the East cold weather snap and shortages of some salad and vegetables due to cold weather in Italy and Spain in 2019. We are working with suppliers to try to avoid any shortages and maintain stocks in stores. Our distribution team is working around the clock to ensure essentials continue to reach our stores and communities.

What are you doing to protect and look after your store colleagues?

The safety and wellbeing of our colleagues is our priority and we are immensely proud of our frontline colleagues and the work they are doing at this unprecedented time to serve our customers, members and local communities.  We have taken immediate steps to help them to follow all the precautions advised by NHS and Public Health England.  Additional hand sanitiser has been provided to all stores and they are all following increased, rigorous cleaning protocols of the store and all fixtures. We are working hard with suppliers to maintain stocks, to help our colleagues in stores offer choice to customers. We have also launched a recruitment drive to support our colleagues and to ensure that our shelves remain stocked and stores remain open.

Will you be introducing an “elderly and vulnerable shopper only” time in your stores?

As a local, convenience retailer, we continue to serve our communities and all our customers every day. Our store colleagues have good relationships with their regular, more elderly and vulnerable customers who we expect will now be following Government’s social distancing advice. As always, our stores will continue to provide the assistance those customers need, if and whenever they choose to shop. We would ask everyone to be considerate in the way they shop and help to care for those around us.
