Baking up a treat at home

One of our store managers has shared a lovely video of one of his young co-operators combining home-schooling with baking up some delicious treats using all Co-op own brand ingredients.

Lee Mullis, Store Manager at Central England Co-op’s Birmingham Road store in Sutton Coldfield, shared the video of his eldest daughter Khloe, 6, creating some scones to mark Co-op Fortnight, as well as Friday’s National Cream Tea Day.

Khloe baked the scones as part of her home schooling and the mini video star was a natural in front of the camera.

Proud dad Lee said: “Her school give suggestions of things to do at home with her and we have found doing an activity such as baking, where she is reading a recipe, following instructions and measuring and weighing ingredients is better than just sitting at the table doing a worksheet.

“I quite enjoy baking as well and Khloe likes to help. Because of the lockdown and her spending more time at home she has got to do it more and has found a talent for it.

“The scones were beautiful – you can’t beat a good scone.”

So, what about the big question – was it jam first or cream first?

“Well that even divides us in this house,” Lee said. “My wife goes the Devon way with cream first, then jam. To be fair for me it’s whichever I can get in my hand first!”
